Amidst a strong passion for sports in general, I am slightly partial to the beautiful game. To me, soccer is more than just a sport - it has taught me many life lessons.
Eight years ago, I sustained a knee injury which kept me off the field ever since. When Covid hit us in 2020, I decided to slowly get back into playing recreationally. On account of a compromised knee, state-issued ordinances, and responsible conduct associated with social distancing at the time, I took to frivolous freestyling and simply kicking the ball around in solitude to quench my thirst for playing the sport. I also discovered that while engaging in keep-ups, perceptual calibration can enable one to become better at synchronizing touches of the ball to the tempo of songs accompanying the activity. I was able to create a video that captured some of this along with how far knee rehabilitation and concomitant ball control came over some weeks of restorative convalescence post ligament reconstruction surgery. Hopefully, I'll soon be back on the field enjoying long bouts of pickup to make up for all these years I lost away from it :)
